Aretes beach north of Toroni is the start of a series of beaches on this coast that are rarely visited. Here you can still get a taste of what Halkidiki was like 30 years ago. The Aretes beach is a chain of 3 beaches which we call Aretes, Sparaggi (Aretes 2) and Aretes 3. The south beach is the largest of the three. Here there is a small hotel offering rooms and that basically has the beach to itself. In between Aretes and Tristinika beach is another undiscovered beach called Paradise.
The hotel is organized with a taverna in a garden just behind the beach and has a great sea view. Recently a beach bar was set up in the middle of the beach with sun-beds and umbrellas where you can get drinks until the morning hours. There is some basic water sport organization here as well.
The beach itself is sandy. The water has a sand bottom and is good for children as it gradually deepens, but then drops off. To the north end the water is shallower. The clear water is good for swimming and snorkeling.
What’s great about Aretes
No crowds and very relaxing. Good for swimming and snorkeling. And what’s not…
