Porto Koufo beach is located in an almost enclosed bay that makes one of the largest natural harbours in Greece. From the beach you get the impression that you are on a large mountain lake and not at all on the sea. The beach is a narrow ribbon of sand that lines the edge of the bay from the harbor all the way to the southern end.
The village of Porto Koufo is a fishing village and fishing is one of its popular pastimes. The beach is organized in places by some hotels and apartments with their beach front properties, but otherwise most of the beach has no organization.
The sand is soft and the water gets deep very quickly. This is a great place to relax and throw up a fishing line. The deep and protected waters attract many fishermen who spend their mornings and evenings fishing from the sand. Also Porto Koufo has in recent years attracted many free divers.
What’s great about Gerakini BeachGreat for fishing and seafood restaurants. The water is very clear and sand soft. No crowds.
And what’s not…Water is deep so watch the children.
Access to Porto Koufo beach is easy, just enter Porto Koufo and turn to the bay.
