Marathias beach is a small beach in the southern tip of Sithonia by Porto Koufo. The beach itself is not a great beach that you would go out of your way for and is mainly used by locals who live the summer in the small community next to the beach. You will never really see anybody enjoying the beach.
There is absolutely no beach development on Marathias beach just you and the fish.
The beach consist of sand mixed with pebble and the sea-bottom is mostly pebble. Because it is in an inlet the water is very calm and clear and you just may be tempted to go for a swim. It also appears to be a good snorkeling spot.
What’s great about Marathias Beach
Water looks inviting for swimming and is very calm.
And what’s not…
Very much pebble.
After Porto Koufo, heading south, go past the reservoir and follow the road about a kilometer until you reach what looks like a small residential neighborhood to your right at the base of the mountain. There is a road that goes past the houses and to Marathias beach.
