Castri beach is nestled in between the Nikiti beach and Agios Ioannis. There are two parts to this beach each of a similar size. Most of the people who come to these beaches are tourists living in near by apartments. Castri is a good place to watch the sunsets from.
Castri beach has no organization and is more of a natural beach. The island off shore is called Castri Island, this is a popular diving site that archeologists claim was the location of ancient Galipsos mentioned by Herodotus. Remains of fortifications have been discovered on the island.
The beaches are pebble, but there are some sandy spots. The water bottom is pleasantly sandy and the water is shallow and exceptionally clean and recommended for swimming and snorkeling.
