Agios Ioannis will definitely catch your eye. Driving past on the road, especially from the south, you get a perfect view of this incredible beach that stretches on for about a kilometer. The aquamarine water looks so inviting that you just want to stop and take a dip.
Agios Ioannis beach is organized with a couple of beach bars that provide sun-beds, umbrellas and of course the music. The far end has been a popular caravan park where many stop for free camping, but since 2016 it seems to have been closed off and is being prepared for resort development.
The beach has beautiful sand and the seafloor is also sandy, just be aware of some large rocks in parts. For a quieter rest, head to the far end of the beach where caravans are parked, here you get the same deal but just quieter. The water is nice and clear and since the beach faces south you get sun the whole day long.
What’s great about Agios Ioannis
The end by the main road is the party place and the far end is the quiet part. It’s a large beach that doesn’t get over crowded.
And what’s not…
The rocks on the sea bottom in parts. Since 2016 the area is under development for a resort.
Access to Agios Ioannis beach is as easy as it gets, about 4 kilometers south of Nikiti just off the main road. There is a snack bar with parking.
