Beaches : snorkeling and undeveloped beach

  • Profile

Lemos beach represents the southern most point of Sithonia. This cape gives you a spectacular view south and on a clear day you may see the Sporades Islands to the south. To get here, you either walk a difficult road, take mountain or motor bikes or perhaps a 4×4 can make it through. All this said, it means you just may be the only person on this beach.

There is absolutely no beach organization and probably never will be, this is isolation at its wildest!

The beach is actually 2 beaches that look like the waist of an hour glass with a small hill in between the two. It is a pebble beach, but there are some sand spots. The sea bottom is also pebble on the left side looking towards the cape, and the right side beach is rock shelf that is very slippery so be careful not to fall. Swimming shoes are a necessity if you are to swim here. Snorkeling is good and bring your harpoon.

    What’s great about Lemos Beach

Pure isolation. Chances are you will not see another soul on this beach. The view to the open sea is really awe-inspiring.

    And what’s not…

If you like to be pampered this beach is not for you. Takes a bit of effort to get to it.

Heading south of Porto Koufo you take the road past the reservoir. Up ahead the road divides, right takes you to Marathias beach so go left. You come to a small red house where you turn right. Follow this road past the houses and then turn left up the mountain. Continue over the mountain until you are on the other side and you will see Palataki beach (there are some abandoned toilet constructions and a BBQ) follow the road over the next hill to the end of the promontory where you will come to Lemos beach.
